Hancock maintains healthy unemployment rate

Hancock County's unemployment rate was 3.4% in October 2024, down from September 2024's 3.7% but up from October 2023's 2.7%.
Indiana's unemployment rate for October 2024 was 4%, down from the previous month's 4.3% but up from 3.1% in October 2023.
The U.S. had an unemployment rate of 3.9% in October 2024, unchanged from September and up from where it was a year prior, which was 3.6%
According to an October 2024 Labor Market Review from the Indiana Department of Workforce Development for a nine-county central Indiana region, Hancock County's latest unemployment figure ranks 73rd highest out of Indiana's 92 counties.
Packers and packagers as well as industrial truck and tractor operators rank highly on the report's list of occupations desired by applicants on their resumes in the past 12 months. Logistics & Transportation is one of Hancock County's target industries.
