The Hancock Economic Development Council was well represented at Civic Circle from the Community Foundation of Hancock County on June 19th, 2024.

Civic Circle offers eight robust sessions to prepare emerging and seasoned leaders for civic service and community engagement. The program is part of the Community Foundation's Talent Pathway, which features seven modules tailored to teach concepts and skills to community members whose civic involvement ranges from new to experienced.

At the June 2024 session, HEDC Board Member Hart Summeier of Level Up Real Estate Group and the MIBOR REALTOR Association kicked things off with a presentation on housing, followed by HEDC Community Development Manager Erica Boswell’s discussion on childcare. Hancock County Sheriff Brad Burkhart, Hancock County 911 Center Public Information Officer and Dispatcher Greg Duda, and Vernon Township Fire Chief Mark Elder wrapped up the day with an informational panel on public safety.

The HEDC recognizes housing, childcare, and public safety are important parts of any prosperous community.

Along with speaking at the session, Boswell is also one of this year's course's students, along with HEDC Communications Director Mitchell Kirk. HEDC Executive Director Randy Sorrell completed last year's course.
