Hancock's unemployment rate dips even lower

Hancock County's unemployment rate was 2.9% for April 2024. That's down from 3.4% in March 2024, but up from 2.2% in April 2023.
The county's drop follows similar trends statewide and nationally. For April 2024, Indiana's unemployment rate fell to 3.5% and the United States' to 3.4%.
Hancock County's April 2024 unemployment rate ranked 67th out of Indiana's 92 counties. In the central Indiana region, Madison County had the highest unemployment rate at 3.5% (32nd statewide) and Hamilton County had the lowest at 2.6% (88th statewide).
