The Hancock Economic Development Council is grateful for the support, education, and connection it receives from the Indiana Economic Development Association and Indy Chamber. Knowing that strong economies make strong communities, these groups work tirelessly to advocate for economic development in central Indiana and across the state. HEDC proudly supports the 2026 Legislative Agendas of both organizations, knowing that the initiatives and principles outlined in each will help Hancock County continue to draw businesses and residents at one of the fastest rates in Indiana.
The IEDA 2026 Legislative Agenda champions ways to empower Indiana communities to retain and create high-wage jobs and diverse economic sectors of the future through initiatives like partnering with local and regional economic development organizations, enhancing quality of life, and forging robust business attraction, retention, and foreign direct investment. It calls for upskilling the Hoosier workforce by expanding and diversifying workforce training programs to meet industry demands and pursuing a bold worker attraction policy. The agenda also advocates for investing in sustainable infrastructure to support economic resilience and growth through quality-of-life investments, a focus on sustainability, and public-private collaboration. It can be read in its entirety here.
The Indy Chamber 2026 Legislative Agenda upholds growing the region’s economy through housing supply growth, fostering more local empowerment for fiscal stability, and modernizing Indiana’s incentive toolkit. It supports building the region’s talent by supporting childcare access, apprenticeship expansion, graduate retention and relocation, and investing in STEM education and a STEM workforce pipeline. The agenda also emphasizes telling the Indy region’s story to show the world a unified message of innovation, opportunity, and quality of life. It can be read in its entirety here.
With partners and priorities like these, the HEDC is well positioned to continue connecting opportunities to economic success as it has for the past 40 years.
