Hancock County, Indiana (January 21, 2026) — Clark Smith has joined the Board of Directors for the Hancock Economic Development Council (HEDC), bringing a deep background in agriculture, rural community development, and both private-sector and public-sector experience.

The Hancock County Council recently designated Council Member Smith as its representative on the HEDC Board, and the Economic Development Council gladly confirmed the selection.

“I am honored by the County Council’s confidence in choosing me for the Economic Development Council,” Smith said.

Smith lives on a Hoosier Homestead Family Farm and his career spans work at Corteva Agriscience and the Indiana State Department of Agriculture. He gained firsthand insight into modern agricultural innovation, and experience engaging with both private industry and government programs aimed at strengthening rural economies.

“Hancock County is well positioned for long-term growth,” Smith said. “I’m grateful for the opportunity to serve and look forward to working with local leaders to support responsible economic development.”

HEDC Executive Director Randy Sorrell welcomes the addition of Smith to the Board.

“Clark’s experience working at the intersection of agriculture, industry, and public service will be a real asset to the HEDC,” Sorrell said. “We’re looking forward to his contributions as we continue to focus on growth that benefits residents, businesses, and communities countywide.”

The Hancock Economic Development Council plays a key role in fostering business growth, attracting investment, and supporting initiatives that improve quality of life in the county. Smith joining its Board reflects ongoing efforts to expand the voice of agriculture and rural entrepreneurship within local planning and development.
