Engagement–online, in the workplace, and among professionals committed to workforce development–was an overarching theme of the Hancock Economic Development Council’s recent Human Resources Group meeting.

The event drew over 20 professionals from local businesses and schools, as well as nonprofit and workforce development organizations. Hosted at Wooden Bear Brewing in Greenfield on June 18th, the gathering sparked a discussion about what kinds of topics attendees would like the group to explore in the future and featured presentations from employment experts with Hancock Health and the leader of a learning and organizational development consulting group.

Hancock Health’s presentation addressed LinkedIn and how its feed algorithm prioritizes relevant, professional content and connections over virality. It was led by Joel Hungate, Executive Director, Employer Strategies and Wellbeing; Sara Price, Recruiting Partner; and Laura Barnett, Talent Acquisition Manager. Kim Chesky of LeadingWise led a presentation on leadership behaviors that matter for building a culture of engagement.

The Hancock Economic Development Council Human Resources Group has hosted events quarterly in the past and looks forward to bringing back this practice. Events offer presentations on human resources-related topics while also providing opportunities for professionals engaged in workforce development to connect.
