Hancock County’s unemployment rate for March 2026 was 2.9%, down from February 2026’s 3.2% and March 2025’s 3.1%, according to the most recent Labor Market Review from the Indiana Department of Workforce Development.
Indiana’s unemployment rate for March 2026 was 3.6%, down from February 2026’s 3.8% and March 2025’s 3.8%
The U.S. unemployment rate for March 2026 was 4.3%, down from February 2026’s 4.7% but up from March 2025’s 4.2%.
Hancock County’s March 2026 unemployment rate ranks 83rd highest of Indiana’s 92 counties. Indiana’s March 2026 unemployment rate is the lowest of all the states it borders, which come in at:
- Illinois: 5.1%
- Kentucky: 4.2%
- Michigan: 5%
- Ohio: 4.1%
