Infrastructure project delivers cleaner water and a healthier environment for Western Hancock

The Aqua Indiana team cuts the ribbon on its Western Hancock Wastewater Treatment Plant, which underwent a significant expansion to double the plant’s capacity and support the region’s projected growth.

Greenfield, Ind. (June 6, 2024)--Aqua Indiana leadership joined officials to cut the ribbon on its Western Hancock Wastewater Treatment Plant Expansion Project on Tuesday. The state-of-the-art facility, which was fully operational in August 2023, doubled the plant’s capacity and was designed to support the extraordinary growth in the region. The upgrades significantly reduce pollutants entering local waterways and improve disinfection, leading to cleaner water and a healthier environment.

“At Aqua, our number one priority is our customers,” said Aqua Indiana President Bob Ervin. “This expansion ensures we continue to meet Indiana’s environmental standards while supporting the growth of Western Hancock County. By reducing pollutants and improving overall treatment efficiency, we can ensure cleaner water for a healthier future. I’m grateful to the Indiana team who worked tirelessly to deliver the project on time and on budget. Their dedication to serving our customers is commendable.”

This investment is part of Aqua’s continuing infrastructure improvement program to replace decades-old water and wastewater infrastructure around the country.
