Techniques and strategies for addressing critical economic development issues filled the Indiana Economic Development Association 2023 Annual Conference.

HEDC Executive Director Randy Sorrell, Community Development Manager Erica Boswell, and Communications Director Mitchell Kirk attended the conference, held December 14-15 at The Alexander in Indianapolis. Several members of HEDC's board attended as well, and several newly elected officials from Hancock County attended the conference's workshop on Economic Development Best Practices for Local Elected Officials.

The conference included addresses from Indiana Gov. Eric J. Holcomb and U.S. Sen. Todd Young from Indiana, and featured sessions on topics including non-local public funding, the Indiana Economic Development Corporation's new brand, and cleantech investment. Also discussed was growing Indiana's advanced industries, including agbioscience, advanced manufacturing, life sciences, and technology. Other topics included childcare, the state's new revolving fund program for residential infrastructure, and how the IEDC's and Indiana Chamber of Commerce's strategic playbooks align for Indiana’s future economic success.
