SUMMARY:An Introduction to GD&T
DESCRIPTION:Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&amp\;T) is a symbolic language used on engineering drawings to specify features of a part\, including the size\, shape\, form\, and orientation. By implementing GD&amp\;T\, manufacturers can more clearly and precisely define part requirements\, improve inspection\, gain business flexibility in today’s global economy\, and save money.In this introductory course\, participants will gain an awareness of GD&amp\;T and the fundamental language of GD&amp\;T\, interpret basic GD&amp\;T drawings\, and perform hands-on exercises to practice what they have learned.Objectives:Explain the history of GD&amp\;T.Explain the benefits of using GD&amp\;T.Describe when GD&amp\;T is used.Define “datum” and explain the use of datums.Explain GD&amp\;T rules #1 and #2.Interpret feature control frames\, including geometric tolerance symbols\, tolerance information\, material condition modifiers\, and datum references.Explain GD&amp\;T’s role in product realization.Intended Audience:Quality control/assurance technicians and inspectors\; other manufacturing personnel whose jobs require the use of engineering drawings.Individuals with limited or no knowledge of GD&amp\;T.Individuals who can read and interpret basic engineering prints or who have completed Purdue MEP’s workshop Print Reading for Manufacturing.Workshop Length: 8 hours
